Big Band music serenades Washington NC

June 16, 2019 — The big band sound of the 1940s echoed through the center of Washington NC today as the 22-piece Emerald City Big Band took to the stage (well, to the gazebo actually) for the town’s Sundays in the Park concert series.

The show was held in Festival Park, situated in the center of town beside the Pamlico River waterfront.  

Listeners were invited to bring a blanket at a lunch (although the show started at 2 pm) or sail their boat up to the boardwalk and enjoy the music.

Vocalist Emery Davis helped with such songs as “Nice and Easy” as shown in the video clip above.

As with many of the musical events in Washington NC, this concert was free although donations are typically accepted to help finance future shows.

The event was organized by Arts of the Pamlico was part of the summer 2019 Sundays in the Park Concert Series.
